Hola!

Just back from ten days in Spain. Had a really good time. We arrived in Barcelona last Thursday and checked into the Solvasa Barcelona Hotel a fair enough hotel by all accounts, although we were slightly annoyed by the fact that they had supplied twin beds (the room was advertised as a double), and that you had to pay another ten euros to use the pool, sauna and gym. On top of that it was far further from the city centre than advertised. Avoid booking companies I suppose is the lesson. For the record, the company we used is Hotel Club Network . Anyway, enough of that. We had a great day on Friday looking round historic Barcelona. From the marvelous if slightly touristy Catedral, to the Sagrada Familia and the very impressive Nou Camp (stadium).

On Saturday we took the train to our Costa Brava resort, where we stayed in a fantastic little apartment in Blanes. Mixed reaction to Blanes - it was busy, yet quiet, probably due to a comparetively old tourist crowd. Good food and drink though, even if some of the beachside cafes were on the tacky side. We had a few days on the beach and exploring the surroundings including the botanic gardens which though sounding unimpressive were actually really enjoyable. We also had a few day trips away to Girona - a wonderful old historic town, to a neighbouring resort town called Tossa del Mar and a water park.

Flew back on Saturday. British airways, reliable as ever (though the 'meals' are still decreasing in size). Reservations about Iberia though. Very little leg room, and no complimentary refreshments on board at all.

Anyway, back at home in Aberdeen now. Work tomorow.

Jan.
