Rural NSW & Queensland

Hi everyone,

This is the first time for about a month I've had access to a pc. So I'll try and give you a quick update of events over the past 4 weeks. I can't upload my photos from here...apologies.

Anyway, I'm currently living in a small village of North Star, in New South Wales close to the border with Queensland. It's roughly halfway between a town called Moree and Goondiwindi (where I am using the internet now). I'm staying in a small caravan at the workshop, and when it's not wet, we drive around about 50km's South to reach the two tractors (New Holland TJ450 's) with which we work. At the moment its still mainly ground prep work (harrowing, offset discing).

I've seen a bit of wildlife, plenty of kangaroos, a huge red centipede/millipede, a redback spider and some other things... Plenty of extreme weather too, with thunderstorms followed by searing heat. Average temperatures here are in the mid 30's C, but thankfully its a bit cooler at the moment (we've had rain for the past few days).

Sophie comes out to visit at the end of April, so that's not long to go now. So I spend most of my time off planning what to do when I finish here. In other news, I've just learned that my old uni team qualified for the British Uni championships for the first time in many many years.. Bit gutted I'm not there to play! I am enjoying it out here though. Everything's very basic, but it's a pretty quiet, carefree life.

Anyway, I will try and update soon,

Take care,

Jan
