Australia part 2

To all those interested, part 2 of my Australia photos are now online, detailing life in rural NSW.

Tbat leaves me with just part 3 to finish, and they are mainly the remaining photos from the time I spent with Sophie travelling up the coast...many of which are already on the main Australia photo page. I'll try and get them done soon. Sadly it appears my Melbourne photos (plus a few machinery and NSW countryside photos) have been lost.. :(

Happy New Year to all, I'm off to have a drink!

WiFi Home Audio Systems...

For a long time now I've really wanted to have the ability to stream internet radio to the rest of my flat. This poses some problems, as you either need to re-transmit the signal from the PC receiving it (and weak FM signals are notoriously suspect to interference), or move wirelessly connected speakers throughout the house(I cant afford enough for the WHOLE home). In addition, for both solutions, your PC needs to be on.

But now as reviewed by Lord Percy, we have the Acoustic Energy Wifi Radio. I know it's a bit late for Christmas, but I really really really want/need/desire one!

I've also found a BT option for £120 all in. Hmm. Maybe a lot of unwanted gifts on ebay after Christmas?

New Photos..

sydney

I made a start to getting most of my Australia photos online. They can be found in the photos section of the website, together with a small commentary. I also uploaded them too my facebook account, so if you wish to leave comments on individual photos I guess it's best to do it on there.

Edit - I'm slowly also georeferencing most of my photos. For now, I'm doing it through my Panoramio account, which you can also use to comment, and view the photos on a map, or even within google earth.

Exams exams exams!

The past two weeks, have without a doubt been the most mind numbingly dull weeks of my life.

End statement.

Seriously, after over twelve weeks of working your ass off without a break on coursework, that is to some extent spoon fed (i.e. deadline by deadline basis), to be able to motivate yourself to revise for two weeks straight on the immensely dry literature of computer data models, codd's normals forms and the internal politics of various standards organisations (nevermind the standards themselves!), is...frankly... almost impossible.

I failed miserably, but have so far made (I feel) a reasonable go of the exams. My hardest two are tomorow and Friday, so I suppose I'll see how optimistic I am them. It's very frustrating because having to go back to revision feels like a step backwards, when we have been so 'actively' learning over the past few weeks. On top of that, having finally formulated ideas for a dissertation I want to make a move on that while I'm still enthusiastic, not burned out after ridiculously boring, dull and ultimately pointless exams.

Nevermind the tens of other little projects I've promised myself to do and sort since I came back from Australia (it feels like so long ago).

Anyway..by Saturday it's all over... and then I'll give you more blog post offerings!

for now... I've thought up another Christmas Present - A good kitchen knife set!

Happy Birthday to Sister (for tomorow)
